Cookie Policy
Last updated: March 22, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Remote Admin by RoUtilities ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website or use our dashboard. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to site owners. Similar technologies include local storage and session storage, which operate in the same way.
2. Cookies We Use
We use only the cookies that are strictly necessary to operate the platform. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies.
| Cookie Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| next-auth.session-token | Strictly necessary | Maintains your authenticated session. Set by NextAuth.js after you sign in. Without this cookie you cannot access the dashboard. | Session / up to 30 days |
| next-auth.csrf-token | Strictly necessary | Cross-Site Request Forgery protection token. Ensures that form submissions and authentication requests originate from our site. | Session |
| next-auth.callback-url | Strictly necessary | Stores the URL you were trying to access before being redirected to the sign-in page, so you are returned there after login. | Session |
In secure (HTTPS) environments, the session token cookie name is prefixed with __Secure- and the CSRF token with __Host- as set by NextAuth.js.
3. Why We Don't Need Your Consent for These Cookies
Under GDPR, PECR (UK), and equivalent Canadian privacy law, cookies that are strictly necessary for the operation of a service you have explicitly requested do not require prior consent. All cookies listed above fall into this category — they exist solely to authenticate you and protect you from CSRF attacks. We do not set any cookies for analytics, advertising, or personalisation purposes.
4. Local Storage
The dashboard stores certain UI preferences (such as sidebar state and theme settings) in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers. It is not a cookie and is not subject to cookie consent requirements.
5. How to Control Cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Please note that disabling the session cookie will prevent you from signing in to the dashboard.
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox:Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data
6. Changes to This Policy
If we introduce new cookies or change the cookies described above, we will update this page and revise the "last updated" date. Any new non-essential cookies would require your consent before being set.
7. Contact
If you have questions about this Cookie Policy, please contact us at [email protected].
